Fontana di Trevi
La fontana di trevi, the end point of the ancient Vergine aqueduct—the only one from Roman times still in operation—is Rome's most famous fountain. Its name comes from the term Regio Trivii, used since the 12th century to refer to the confluence of three streets in the square, or to the triple outlet of water from the original fountain.
Visiting it is almost a ritual: before you leave, don't forget to throw a coin to ensure your return to Rome. And if you're looking for romance — or even eternal love — throw a second and third coin... perhaps wedding bells will soon be ringing.
